Pieter Coussement

As a squad lead, Pieter guides a diverse team of machine learning and software engineers, project managers and customer engineers, delivering valuable projects for our clients.

Pieter is also a data engineer, and has high affinity with data and databases, with his all time favourite being graph databases. Furthermore, he has a high affinity for automation, hence his love for well structured CI/CD.

But capturing and storing data is not enough. It needs to be able to speak for itself. Questions like “how do we bring this to the client in a usable way?”, is one that triggers Pieter.

Pieter is a schooled biotechnician, obtaining a PhD in systems and synthetic biology at UGent. Before ML6 he worked as teamlead in a biotech company. responsible for the internal dataflows (omics, linking geno to phenotyping, robot automation) as well as wet-lab guidance. He brings his expertise on bio related projects.

Pieter considers the interface of (synthetic) biology and data / machine learning, his sweet spot.
