Google Cloud Next 2025 Top Announcements

Transform Enterprise Operations with Google’s Latest AI Stack: Smarter Agents, Multimodal Interfaces, Real Business Impact

The annual Google Cloud Next event took place in Las Vegas in April, where Google presented its latest innovations for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
During the conference, Google showcased a significant expansion of Google's AI capabilities within its Cloud Platform (GCP). Key announcements highlighted a strategic focus on multimodal AI and agentic workflows:

Gemini Advancements:

  • The upcoming Gemini-2.5-Flash model promises faster performance and efficiency, catering to latency-sensitive applications.
  • Developers now have access to an API for Veo 2, Google's powerful text-to-video generation model, enabling the creation of high-quality video content from textual prompts.
  • The revolutionary Gemini Live API unlocks real-time, interactive AI experiences. This API enables applications to process and respond to live visual and auditory input, facilitating scenarios like real-time image analysis and voice-driven interactions.
  • Gemini 2.5 Pro is now available in public preview on Vertex AI and the Gemini app, offering state-of-the-art performance.
  • Introducing Lyria, the industry's first enterprise-ready text-to-music model, capable of transforming simple text prompts into 30-second music clips, unlocking new creative possibilities.

Agentic AI Development:

  • Google introduced a new Agent SDK, designed to streamline the development of agentic AI applications specifically optimized for Gemini models on GCP. This SDK provides tools and frameworks to build AI agents that can autonomously perform tasks and interact with their environment, positioning it as a direct competitor to the OpenAI Agent SDK.
  • Furthermore, Google unveiled an agent-to-agent communication protocol, facilitating seamless interaction and collaboration between multiple AI agents. This protocol, conceptually similar to Multi-Party Computation (MPC) but tailored for agent communication, aims to enable complex, distributed AI systems.
  • Google Agentspace is putting the power of AI agents directly into the hands of every employee. This platform allows users to find and synthesize internal information, converse with AI agents, and take action within their enterprise applications, boosting productivity and knowledge sharing.
  • The next generation of Customer Engagement Suite offers out-of-the-box functionality to build and deploy AI agents across various customer touchpoints, including web, mobile, call centers, in-store interactions, and integration with third-party telephony and CRM systems.

Under the Hood: Powering AI Innovation:

  • AI Integration Across Google Workspace: Beyond dedicated AI platforms, Google is seamlessly integrating AI into everyday tools.
  • New updates and tools in Gemini for Google Workspace are enhancing productivity by embedding more AI capabilities into familiar applications like Docs, Sheets, and Meet.
  • Introducing Ironwood TPUs, Google's seventh-generation Tensor Processing Units. Representing their largest and most powerful TPU to date, Ironwood delivers a more than 10x performance improvement compared to their previous high-performance TPU.

These announcements signal Google's commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI, particularly in multimodal applications and the development of sophisticated, autonomous AI agents.
